I'd send a screen shot, but there's no way for you to receive it, so I'll have to try to describe it instead. The room in the first scene is black except for the fireplace. It's not a sharply defined lighted area like in the Grim Tales games, it's as if there are no lights on at all but you can see the fire because it's a source of light.
The tutorial directs the player to a black invisible table where a projector is visible and an envelope. The tutorial directs the player to an invisible letter opener and then to open the envelope to get the safe combination. The tutorial then directs the player to pick up the invisible hooks, which go into inventory. I don't know whether they stay there, because I didn't get to where I needed them. I was directed into a black corner to the left of the fireplace to a black zoom window to open the black invisible safe with the combination. I have no idea whether it is a dial or a push button.
I can't open something I can't see. The feeling is not that the screen is completely missing, but that it is just too darn dark. Not that that matters as a player, but it matters to troubleshooting. It's black all right, but it is not a 'black screen error' of the kind we all know and hate. Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit. Black screen here too. I had audio, but no video whatsoever.
When I changed compatibility as indicated in the support article, game wouldn't launch. Tried uninstalling, reinstalling. Upon reinstall, game indicated -1 minute left to play. Since the game had to be closed before troubleshooting (which had to be done via task manager since I had nothing showing up), there's no way 60 minutes was eaten up.
Drivers, Direct X all up to date. I guess the game either doesn't like my widescreen monitor (changing the display did not help), or my graphics card. Game played fine until I got the keys. I then went to the smith, got them hot in the coals, and now cannot do anything with them.
I understand you are to hammer them on the anvil - I am unable to click on the anvil. I found a walkthrough and it looks like you have to grab the hammer after the smith makes the bracelet. I did not and know I cannot grab it. Guess I will try and start over. Update: Yes, started over, and this is a glitch. I grabbed the hammer this time after the smith used it to make the bracelet.
I was then able to click onto the anvil to hammer the keys. Finally finished the game. Edited on at 3:03:58 PM PST.
I noticed a problem with the sound settings & voice. I was able to turn the music off and it didn't affect anything. I set the environment/sounds (forgot the name) low, and the voice volume higher. No matter what I did, the settings reset themselves to the setting for the voice volume. Except the music.
That stayed off, as I set it. Also, and more annoying, I never actually had any voice. I could see lips moving, and there is a setting for voice, so I know that I am supposed to have it, but there was none.

I just wanted to say that the demo ran for me with black screens I think whenever there was a cinematic, but I am not sure.I also had black screens whenever the game segued from one scene to another. I wasn't going to purchase the game, figuring it was a bad buy.but then I saw that another older game that I have not finished playing yet was also getting black screens; and it always played well before. I updated my Adobe Flash, Adobe Shockwave and my Direct X. I don't know which one was causing the problem, but ALL of them had updates to download.
I just checked the Demo of Sacred Almanac again, and it seems to be playing perfectly so far. And looks like a game I definitely will buy.
