Vic Norton writes: Has there been any progress on a port of Octave 4.0 for Mac OSX 6? I am using Thomas Treichl's Octave-Forge/Octave.app version 3.2.3.

MacPorts has version 3.2.4. I don't know what version Fink has. Is anyone working on a Mac port of Octave 4.0? Hello, I don't know if the official team has made any progress. I've been trying to compile it myself for my own personnal use.

I've made a.app bundle using the dmgpacker scripts that are on the svn. It works for me but I still have to figure out how to make it more universal. Does this start on your machine? For information, I've been using AT&T Research gfortran here: Julien - A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.

Writes: As a few messages of positive feedback were already sent to this thread, I uploaded Octave.app to sourceforge and credited Julien for his nice work on the home page. Hello, There are at least a couple of problems that I haven't solved so far: 1/ It seems it works only on Snow Leopard. I guess there are some options to use at compile time to build binaries that would work on older systems but I don't know which ones.

2/ It may not start on computers running outdated X11. It seems that the binary requires libX11 to be the same or newer than mine.

There are probably some options to pass at compile time that I'm not aware of. 3/ mkoctfile doesn't work out of the box (essentially because of the gfortran dynamic libraries) I'm using Octave on various machines, including several PPC machines for my work. I will therefore try to build a PPC version, as soon as I have some time. A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? A: Top-posting. First, thanks for making this available! My problem is that plot is not working.

I believe this is an OS X issue not an octave issue but I'm hoping that someone here can point me in the right direction. I used macports to install gnuplot, and I have X11 installed. When I run 'plot(x)', octave returns me to the prompt with no error messages. I can print('test.eps','-deps2'), and create an eps file. But I can't see the plot.

I can launch gnuplot from the command line and can run a script, but again can't see a plot. Any pointers? Bob Help-octave mailing list.

Any pointers? Bob Octave may be trying to use Aquaterm to display the figures. At the octave prompt, try typing.
