Canon Edsdk 2.5 Missing Files For Mac
I have my new MacBook Retina Pro complete with OSX 10.8.1. П™‚ I am trying to connect my Canon 7D DSLR camera to my mac via the current Mac Canon EOS Utility 2.11.4, in order to update the firmware on my Canon camera. EOS Utility launches fine, without the camera connected via USB. Launching EOS Utility with the camera connected however, causes the program to crash with a 'EOS Utility quit unexpectedly' msg! I have re-installed the Utility countless times, tried to go down a version (doesn't work with ML), tried different USB cables thinking perhaps one of them may have been glitchy/faulty etc, but all to no avail. So, here's the million dollar question. What is going on?
How do I update the firmware on my camera (let alone use the other features intended with the utility software)? The software works without the camera, but not when the camera is connected and switched on.
I don't have an external CF Card reader. Whilst the camera works fine otherwise (iphoto file transfer etc), the Canon Utility crashes when talking to the 7D. Canon USA mention drivers for Mountain Lion will be available early October. Does anyone know of any workaround/solution in the mean time? Thanks for help.
I'm having this exact same problem. It was working fine on my iMac OS Lion (10.7.5).
I made no changes to the OS and the issue came right out of the blue. Canon EOS Utility version 2.11.4 - I've tried uninstalling, rebooting, installing an older version, repairing OS permissions, reformatting camera cards, tried using different cameras (5D Mark III, 50D, T2i) with no success. EOS Utility launches fine without camera connected, but as soon as you connect the camera, the utility crashes with the information below. I'm having the same problem. Called Canon and they didn't do anything. It appears that the 7D connection works on OSX 10.6.X.

Mine was working perfectly well with Canon 7D v2.0.0 firmware until I updated it to v2.0.3 and updated the latest Mac security patch that went out last week. The error seems to be generated by the new firmware and is incompatible with 10.7.X and above. Let's see what Canon has to say. Their embedded software is being developed in China, and the strike happening seems to be affecting Canon's ability to quickly release a new firmware patch. The latest update for Canon 7D software is due any day now, this I am told by Canon will allow the WFT E5 and 7D to be used with OSX10.8, such a shame that Canon and Apple are dragging their feet with this.
Everyone uses Mac for photography (well almost), yet if you keep upto date with Mac updates you will never be able to use your Canon gear. FYI, I turned on my old Windows 7 pc, started Eos Utility and it worked like a dream. Had live view via wifi and could control lots of the 7d options.
Wish both Canon and Apple could sort things out, payed a lot of money for my wifi transmitter and 7d only to find that they do not work remotely on adhoc network as described in Canon store. Does anyone use this equipment with OSX10.8? If so do you have any tips? Thanks Chris. Apple Footer.
